Still chipping away at this in my free time. Testing out some new materials I bought from Mercurial Forge. Moving on to working on the hair for a while.
Concept: Kutty Sark Art
Haven't been updating here in a long time, following the recent artstation Art Blast i participated in I figured it was time to start being active again.
I found this amazing watercolor concept by artist KuttySark (@kuttysarkart on twitter) and got permission to model her halloween sailor moon concept that she did for Inktober last year.
Since its been a few years from my last sailor moon character I decided its time to do another one to see whats improved.
Here is the first nights of work :)

Late night update!
Worked on the shoes.
Testing translucent rendering on the shirt material.
I am back from a short break with family visiting and am working on my next project "Bugsaurs" by concept artist: Jaemin Kim https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nn4Zr
This concept really drew me in because of the ingenious use of bug parts and shapes to make a very unique creature concept. So far I am done getting all of the major parts in but still need to get a few of the arms up to the secondary level of detail. Here are a few screenshots and different angles that are from a bit earlier in the sculpt.
Been slacking on updating this blog but I have started the texturing phase of this character. Her final poly count is around 21k right now for everything and I have brought her in to Marmoset and Substance Painter to get to work on finishing her up. Very excited to see it all starting to come together. Looking back on the first iterations I posted are both wonderful and horrible to see how it has progressed.
Hoping to have this finalized and posted next week! Marmoset is kind of chugging right now so I'm not giving more angles at the moment x_x

Its been a little while since I updated this project, was working on some freelance in the mean time but I am back at it. Proportions changing quite a bit as I try to find the ideal height for her. She has also gone through another hair change. Made the bangs slightly more realistic. I also decided on the Kaleidoscope Moon Scepter and started a model for it in Maya.
Next steps are to continue cleaning up and detailing, as well as getting in those final pieces of outfit in there, some bows, etc. and to finish up the scepter's model.
Also added a fun before/after gif of some of the proportion fixes. Its really funny to see them and how much it improves.
Did some more texturing work on his body and started fixing up the hands. I also got a start on the sculpts of his accessories! He has a backpack and staff now. I will be adding the rest of the sculpt soon which has some scrolls, bedroll, buckles, another shorter staff and some swords. I also realized I didn't give a preview of the topology so here's a front view wireframe as well!
He is almost ready to sell you some junk at top notch prices!
Back at this project, the diffuse is blocked in roughly in most areas and I have started going through and hand-painting/refining areas. Its still really messy in certain areas but its getting there! Ill be putting the accessories on a second material and should be blocking them out soon. Concept: Labros Panousis https://www.artstation.com/artwork/J6mEn

Here's an update on the project I recently started, the sculpt is in Marmoset for viewing purposes as I continue on with his accessories and retopo. I can't wait to start texturing him.
I'll be at GDC in San Fran this week, if you're in the area and want to say hi, let me know!

Currently working on the sculpt for his body then I will move on to his inventory at a later time. Should be polishing this first part up today or tomorrow.
